Overview
This scenic half-day hike climbs to the Lake Viewpoint above Panajachel, one of the best vantage points around Lake Atitlán. Beginning right in town, the trail winds past the bustling local market before climbing into oak-covered hillsides and terraced farmland. Along the way, you'll cross fields of spring onions and corn, working your way up to the summit for a sweeping view of Panajachel and the entire lake. Short, varied, and rewarding, it's the perfect introduction to the landscapes and rhythms of local life above the lake.
Sunrise option available
For an early start, a sunrise version of this hike is also available, timed to reach the viewpoint as the sun comes up over the lake.
