Beginning right in town, the trail winds past the bustling local market before climbing into oak-covered hillsides and terraced farmland. Along the way, you’ll cross fields of spring onions and corn while enjoying sweeping views of Panajachel and the vast Lake Atitlán watershed. Short, varied, and rewarding, the Pana Traverse is the perfect introduction to the landscapes and rhythms of local life above the lake.

What's included

Your day on the Trail

8:00 AM: We’ll meet you at a central location in Panajachel and begin the hike right from town. Passing through the local market, we head into the hills on a trail leading to the agricultural zone above Panajachel.
8:30 AM – 9:30 AM: As we hike, we pass terraced onion fields and enjoy expansive views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. At the summit (2,000 m), we pause to rest, share snacks, and sip a warm coffee or tea while soaking in the panorama.
9:030 PM – 10:30 PM: We begin our descent back toward Panajachel, retracing our steps through farmland and forest, returning to your lodging to close out the adventure.
