What's included

Your day on the Trail

6:00 AM: Meet your guide in the parking lot of Hotel Bambú in Santiago Atitlán for a trail briefing and gear check. (Pick-up from other points in Santiago can be arranged).
6:30 AM – 12:30 PM: We begin the hike through the alleys of Santiago and into the surrounding highlands. The trail gradually climbs through coffee plantations and expansive cornfields before entering dense, old-growth cloud forest. As we gain elevation, the air cools and the forest thickens, offering glimpses of Lake Atitlán below. We’ll take several rest stops along the way.
12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: We reach the first volcano summit and enjoy wide-open views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We’ll break for a warm drink and a packed lunch.
1:00 PM – 1:30 PM: We continue along the ridge to the second volcano summit, where a massive collapsed crater opens beneath us, one of the most dramatic and lesser-seen volcanic features in the region.
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM: We begin the descent back through the forest and fields, returning to Hotel Bambú in Santiago Atitlán or to the main town area by late afternoon. Expect tired legs, full lungs, and the quiet satisfaction of a true off-the-beaten-path summit.
